An Overview…
Sacred Hospitality is a four-class curriculum created for Christian churches that focuses on questions of Christian hospitality and immigration. Today, topics about immigrants and immigration are constantly in the news. However, these issues are usually framed through the eyes of politics or governments. This curriculum is focused instead on asking the questions of “Who are immigrants in God’s eyes and how are we called to respond using the Christian practice of hospitality?”
This curriculum understands hospitality as four inter-connected parts: 1) mutual vulnerability, 2) recognition, 3) making room, and 4) blessing. Over the course of the classes, we will define and reflect on these different parts and practice using them in approaching the stories of three immigrants: Mary, Tekle,.

Mary
Mary is a U.S. Citizen and refugee from Sudan. After leaving Sudan and living in Egypt for many years, she moved to the United States through the US’s Refugee program. Now she lives in Texas with her family. Listen to Mary tell her story in Class 2.
